A Surprise Proposal at Chapman Hill
Here at Chapman Hill, every wedding has a unique story, but every so often, we get to be part of something extra special. Recently, we had one of those magical full-circle moments with a couple whose journey began with a surprise right here at our 17-acre venue near Jefferson, Georgia.
For most couples, the first big step after getting engaged is to book their wedding venue. But sometimes, couples who are excited to get the ball rolling visit venues before the ring is officially on the finger. That’s exactly what happened with Ryder and Carol. They reached out to schedule a tour of Chapman Hill, and like most couples, we assumed they were already engaged and on the hunt for the perfect location. But then we got a call from Ryder, and that’s when the fun really began.
A Surprise Proposal at Chapman Hill
Ryder let us in on his secret—he was planning to propose to Carol during the tour! Of course, we were thrilled to be a part of such a big moment. We quickly jumped into action, offering to help with the perfect setup. We arranged a bottle of champagne and even helped Ryder hide Carol’s family so they could surprise her after the proposal. The plan was set!
When Ryder and Carol arrived for their tour, everything seemed normal. We began by asking how they met, which is one of our favorite parts of every tour. We love hearing each couple’s unique story! As we moved through the venue, answering questions about the ceremony space, reception hall, and outdoor areas, we knew the moment was coming.
Then, in our beautiful reception space, Ryder dropped to one knee and asked Carol to marry him. Her reaction was priceless, and as soon as she said "yes," her family appeared from around the corner with flowers, balloons, and a champagne toast. It was truly magical! The couple spent the next half-hour exploring the property, taking impromptu engagement photos, and soaking in the excitement of the moment.
Booking Their Wedding at Chapman Hill
With the surprise proposal behind them, you can imagine that any detailed conversation about the wedding venue was completely forgotten. And that was perfectly fine with us! It was such a joy to be a part of their surprise proposal, and we were even more excited when they decided to book Chapman Hill as their wedding venue.
Just seven months later, Ryder and Carol returned to Chapman Hill on a beautiful June day to say their vows. and really celebrate with their families. Their wedding was filled with personal touches, surprises for the guests and thoughtful details that made the day truly special for them and their guests. From the breathtaking outdoor ceremony to the joyful celebration in our reception barn, it was the perfect ending to their engagement journey—and the start of a lifetime of happiness.
